The full–length cartoon about the adventures of SpongeBob became another victim of the epidemiological situation - instead of a summer release in cinemas, the premiere moved to the online platform Netflix. For the character created by Stephen Hillenberg (he, by the way, passed away during the production of the cartoon) This is the third appearance in the full-length animation. SpongeBob still lives in his pineapple house, and at one point the sea hero's beloved pet, Gary the snail, disappears. Gary is sent to the realm of Poseidon, the creepy narcissist who rules Atlantic City, a beautiful underwater city that looks like a shopping mall. SpongeBob's pet is necessary for Poseidon to smooth out wrinkles, as snail mucus has medicinal properties. The main character and his friend Patrick immediately go in search of Gary. The need for another cartoon about SpongeBob is a controversial issue, but the project has started to play with new colors thanks to new technologies. The three–dimensional world created by the animators noticeably enlivens the texture of Bikini Bottom, the city where the main character lives. This world has become deeper, more detailed and engaging. On the other hand, in addition to visual elaboration, Tim Hill's cartoon is unable to offer anything new – he is trampling in the already familiar space of the animated series. The specific humor, the bizarre organization of life on the seabed, where the inhabitants have "their own atmosphere", the presence of curtsies, which can only be appreciated by SpongeBob fans - a casual viewer with Netflix seems to have absolutely nothing to do here. But a fan of the Hillenberg universe is highly likely to be satisfied, especially if he has managed to miss the characters. SpongeBob's adventure is joined by a number of actors with spectacular cameos: from Keanu Reeves to Snoop Dogg. For the most part, they are needed to fill in the gaps in the narrative with various humorous numbers. However, the presence of Keanu Reeves is really amusing – he appears in the form of a talking tumbleweed, who instructs SpongeBob and gives wise advice. In addition to the schematic conflict between SpongeBob and the royal figure of Poseidon, there is an interesting move in the cartoon – these are flashbacks of childhood, when the hero met the starfish Patrick and the squirrel Sandy.
