Antiques Road Trip S33 E11-E15 (1080p, soft English subtitles)
Antiques experts set off on a road trip around the UK searching for treasures and competing to make the most money at auction.
E11 These Shoes Are Made for Auction
Seasoned tripper Margie Cooper and jewellery expert Ishy Khan are turning heads on the roads of South Yorkshire and Derbyshire in a dazzling, bright yellow 1969 Lamborghini Islero. It’s their first time road- tripping together, and as they size each other up, Margie has more pressing concerns - namely, her new and yet-to-be-broken-in leopard print shoes. In the shops, Margie steers towards a decidedly mixed bag of curiosities, from a hefty stone relic to something fit for cocktail hour. Meanwhile, Ishy’s enthusiastic drawer-delving uncovers precious metal possibilities and pocket-sized curios, though he too seems unable to resist the lure of leopard print. Away from all those antiques centres, the pair delve into Sheffield’s proud industrial heritage at Kelham Island Museum, discovering the story of the city’s legendary little mesters before trying their own hand at crafting a traditional pocket knife. Then it’s off to the auction, where everything hangs on a knife edge. Will Margie carve out a victory, or can Ishy cut through the competition?
E12 Chalk One Up in Lincolnshire
Antiques experts Margie Cooper and Ishy Khan are on the second leg of their road trip in their bright yellow Lamborghini Islero, this time cruising around Lincolnshire. Margie’s shopping basket is as eclectic as ever, from a mysterious coffee table to a feline print with a sporting twist. Ishy, meanwhile, once again proves powerless to resist silver, snapping up elegant tableware, a curious continental keepsake and a decorative piece with serious heavyweight ambitions. Trading antiques for waders, our pair also head into the Lincolnshire Wolds to explore one of Britain’s rarest natural habitats, the county’s precious chalk streams and the delicate ecosystems they support. Back on dry land, attention turns once more to the saleroom in Lincoln. But after wading through hidden treasures and rare finds, who will chalk up a victory?
E13 A Whole World of Profits
Dealers Margie Cooper and Ishy Khan reach the halfway point of their road trip as their dazzling 1969 Lamborghini Islero rolls into Norfolk. While the giggles continue in the Lambo, the pressure is mounting in the antiques hunt as both experts search for purchases with profit potential. Ishy is drawn to a menagerie of decorative treasures featuring fauna. Margie, meanwhile, faces some tricky shopping decisions, before going all domestic goddess, with a curious assortment of kitchenalia, including one with a distinctly icy connection. Taking a detour from the antiques trail, they head into rural Norfolk to meet one of only a few practitioners of a remarkable craft, making super small solar systems. There, they discover a tradition that has fascinated humanity for centuries and help create a miniature world of their own. Back on earth, thoughts turn to the saleroom. Are astronomical profits on the horizon?
E14 Ghostly Goings-On in Essex
Ghostly goings-on, sporting rivalries and plenty of laughter await as dealers Margie Cooper and Ishy Khan roll into Essex for the penultimate leg of their road trip. Travelling in their dazzling 1969 Lamborghini, every purchase counts as their best-of-five contest reaches a crucial stage. Their search for hidden gems uncovers charming Victoriana, continental treasures and even a celebrity signature with a distinctly spooky connection. And the scares don’t stop there as they step inside a reputedly haunted antiques centre where ghostly tales and playful antics make for an unforgettable forage. Away from the shops, our friendly rivals head to Southend-on-Sea to try padel, one of Britain's fastest-growing sports. And, in a different sort of head-to-head for them, face off on the court. Then, it's time for the penultimate auction. Will one expert conjure up the winning bid, or will their hopes of victory vanish into thin air?
E15 Buckle up and Boogie
Margie and Ishy buckle up for the final leg of their grand tour, a sashay through the Home Counties. Ishy takes the wheel for this one as Margie opts to be a passenger princess. And their bright yellow 1960s Lamborghini is certainly the car to do it in. Their tastes prove surprisingly in step when belts and buckles catch their eyes. Sporting curiosities, motoring nostalgia and something from the heart tempt Margie, while Ishy is charmed by the shiny, the stripey and the sparkly. In Luton, they swap antiques for sequins, feathers and elaborate headdresses as they discover how one local tradition has grown into a multicultural fiesta, bringing music, movement and magnificent costumes to the town’s streets for generations. Then it’s on to the saleroom for the final dance-off of their road trip. But when the bidding begins, who’ll be celebrating and who’ll be left out of step?
