Jay Drives Nethercutt's One-Off 1938 Lincoln V12 - Nov. 2 2026
This 1938 Lincoln Model K V12 was built for Edsel Ford, rejected by Ford’s designers as too far ahead of its time, and kept by the coachbuilder as his own car. It was the last car J.B. Judkins ever built.
Jay calls it “a little sorbet in between the supercars.” Cameron Richards, Curator of the Nethercutt Collection, brings over a car from the Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar, California, that most people have never heard of: a one-off Judkins Touring Coupe on the Lincoln Model K Twelve chassis. Judkins built it as a speculation car meant for Edsel Ford. Ford’s designers thought nobody would like it, so Judkins kept it for himself. He later sold it, and it ended up in Florida. In the mid-1960s he tracked down the owner while on vacation and bought it back. When Judkins died in 1969, his wife Elizabeth called Dorothy Nethercutt: “We always knew you liked this car. Would you like to have it?” It has been with the Nethercutts ever since. It was repainted in 1969 and has never been restored, and the family has put more than 50,000 miles on it, including a couple of drives across the country
