With Joaquín Rodrigo’s “Concierto de Aranjuez” and Maurice Ravel’s “Boléro,” this release brings together two works that are connected in different ways to the musical world of Spain. Rodrigo’s guitar concerto is complemented by the “Tiento Antiguo” for solo guitar. Thus, Rodrigo’s music and Ravel’s exploration of Spanish soundscapes are juxtaposed.
The “Concierto de Aranjuez” and the “Tiento Antiguo” were recorded live at the Palau de la Música Valencia in June 2024. The soloist is Croatian guitarist Ana Vidović, accompanied by the Orquesta de Valencia under Alexander Liebreich. Ravel’s “Boléro” was recorded in February 2026 as a studio recording at the same venue with the same orchestra and conductor
