This is a repack of the original release I did. There are two longer silent film era episodes that do not
contain music, and are not the result of any type of error. This is now a perfect package.
This is obviously not any type of complete collection, nor is it any type of official release. It's
'ultimate' for fans of the shorts & features era from 1929-1940, with a handful of their early days before
in the silent film era, and a little bit of post-1940 material added in as well. It's made up from 4 different
Laurel & Hardy compilations, and they are all official releases containing DVD-9 Discs. I moved 'The Flying Deuces' in with the Hal Roach shorts & features section, since it is from that era. The only redone video
is the release of 'March Of The Wooden Soldiers' (restored for B&W & colorized in 1991), but the rest are
mostly very clear for basic film to DVD transfer. The shorts & features are all in their native 23.976 fps
rate, and of course that means they play with smooth motion at the correct speed/tempo.
In case anybody is interested where this collection came from, here they
are:
1 The Essential Laurel & Hardy - RHI Entertainment Distribution
(this is where almost all of the shorts & features came from.
2 Laurel & Hardy Volume 1 & 2 - Platinum Disc Corporation (this is where
The Flying Deuces and Utopia came from, and is probably the best
non-remastered versions of those available)
3 March Of The Wooden Soldiers - Legend Films restoration released by Genius
Entertainment.
4 The Best Of Laurel & Hardy - Go Entertainment (This is where all the
Silent Era videos came from)
I included everything contained in those 4 compilations here, so please share!
