The main character of Corsairs Legacy is the smuggler Rufus Monroe, who transports goods between naval patrols. His life takes an unexpected turn when a simple crossing to the islands of Trinidad and Tobago ends with an encounter with a Spanish patrol boat. A combination of events gives Captain Monroe a chance to become a legendary pirate. Mechanics Corsairs Legacy has an open world - it takes us to the Caribbean, which we traverse both on board a ship and on foot. During this time, we develop the skills of the main character, attack foreign ships, cross swords with numerous opponents, look for treasures and visit inns to learn the language and play dice with regulars. One of the most important elements of Corsairs Legacy are sea journeys and battles. During them, you must take into account the strength and direction of the wind, which translates into the speed and maneuverability achieved. During battles, we position ourselves starboard or portboard towards the enemy's ship and then send a cannon salvo towards it. Depending on the chosen tactic, we use, among others: to cannonballs (excellent at long distances, they effectively destroy the hull) or grapeshot (they mainly injure the crew). Attacking an enemy unit will allow us to board. During direct combat, we can use various types of melee weapons, performing light and strong attacks, as well as combining them into combinations. In defense, we use blocking, and we throw particularly fierce opponents off balance with a pistol shot. In a crisis situation, we will reach for healing drinks. Each fight requires us to use Rufus's stamina wisely. During the linear adventure, we make choices that lead us to one of several endings. In addition, the game features dynamic weather and a day and night cycle, and the open world is teeming with various species of birds, as well as land and sea animals. Fun fact According to the original assumption, in Corsairs Legacy we were to take control of the pirate Jack Rackam, known from history, who was nicknamed Calico Jack.
